At Beyond Affairs, we understand that people seeking help after infidelity are often in deep emotional pain. Many are navigating trauma, grief, confusion, fear, shame, anger, or the possible collapse of a marriage and family. Because of this, we take seriously the responsibility of creating content that is emotionally honest, compassionate, practical, and grounded in real-life experience.
Our mission is not simply to publish relationship advice, but to provide meaningful support, hope, education, and guidance for individuals and couples affected by infidelity.
Our Approach
Beyond Affairs was founded by Anne and Brian Bercht after surviving and rebuilding their own marriage following infidelity. Much of the content on this site is informed by:
- Lived personal experience
- Years of working directly with individuals and couples affected by affairs
- Intensive coaching and retreat work
- Ongoing study and research related to relationships, trauma, healing, and recovery
- Conversations with professionals, counselors, and recovery communities
Our perspective is deeply relational, experiential, and recovery-focused. We believe healing after betrayal is possible, though often difficult and deeply personal.
Our Content Philosophy
We are committed to creating content that is:
Emotionally Honest
We do not minimize the devastation of infidelity or offer simplistic solutions for complex emotional pain.
Compassionate
We strive to speak to hurting individuals with empathy, dignity, and hope.
Experience-Based
Many articles are written from firsthand lived experience navigating betrayal, reconciliation, trauma, grief, rebuilding trust, and marriage restoration.
Practical
We aim to provide actionable guidance, insight, and emotional clarity for real-world recovery situations.
Hope-Oriented
While not every marriage survives infidelity, we believe restoration and healing are possible for many individuals and couples willing to pursue genuine change and recovery.
Accuracy & Responsibility
We make every effort to ensure the information shared on Beyond Affairs is thoughtful, responsible, and helpful. However, relationship recovery is deeply individual, and no article, program, or coaching approach can guarantee specific outcomes. Our content is intended for educational and supportive purposes and should not be considered medical, psychiatric, legal, or licensed mental health advice.
Individuals experiencing severe emotional distress, abuse, addiction, self-harm thoughts, or mental health crises should seek appropriate professional care.
Content Updates
Articles on Beyond Affairs may be periodically reviewed, updated, expanded, or edited in order to:
- Improve clarity
- Reflect additional insight or experience
- Maintain relevance
- Improve readability and accessibility
- Incorporate updated understanding of recovery and trauma-related issues
We are committed to continually improving the quality and usefulness of our content.
Our Commitment to Integrity
We believe trust matters deeply in affair recovery. For that reason, we strive to communicate honestly and transparently about:
- Our experience
- Our beliefs and approach
- The limits of our expertise
- The realities of healing after infidelity
We do not claim perfection, quick fixes, or guaranteed outcomes. Our desire is simply to help individuals and couples find greater healing, truth, clarity, restoration, and hope after betrayal.
